surrounded by art.

Yesterday, even though it was wet and cold-- we:
I have been dying to see the King Tutankhamun exhibit since it came to the Dallas Museum of Art. I found a half price ticket special online, so my youngest and I packed a picnic and decided to go!
The tickets were timed, so we had 2 hours to kill before our entrance into the exhibit. With our paid admission to see King Tut, we were able to browse the art museum also. I was ecstatic!
.
My favorite exhibits were titled "Take Your Time".
One was just a single room, engulfed in vibrant color that would gradually change.

We really enjoyed the:

And LOVED the:

I even found art that I have in my own house!

Cool!

.
Sadly, I was not allowed to take pictures of the King Tut exhibit, but it was awesome too!
Getting to see tons of artifacts that were found in his tomb was amazing.
His small childhood throne, from when he became king at the early age of 9.
His cosmetics box.
Small games.
Oodles and oodles of jewelery. (They found hundreds of pieces on his mummy.)
And, the mini gold coffonette, which had his mummified liver inside of it.
Weird to some, AWESOME TO ME!
I can't wait to make it to Egypt someday to actually see him, in person.
Hopefully, someday soon!

Way cool!! I especially love the room of color!! Those photos are amazing!

I'll be in the Dallas/Richardson area from the 26th through the 29th!! Maybe we can connect at some point. I'll be a busy beaver, but just maybe!!

Wouldn't that be WAY COOL?

Do you have a link to the half-price ticket? We've been wanting to see the exhibit, but the tickets are so darn costly!

Oh, I hope King Tut makes his way here someday. Believe it or not, Idaho Falss actually has a pretty cool museum. Just one, but still, we have one. Right now we have the Titanic remnants on display. HAvne't seen it yet, but I will.

Oooo...King Tut! My husband & I drove to Chicago to see that exhibit in '06. I was so disappointed that we weren't allowed to take photos (even without a flash). But it was a wonderful exhibit. I believe this go round has different objects in it and I would love to go again! Looks like you all had a fun day!

It's a fun exhibit. I saw it about 20 yrs ago but the memories are just like yesterday. Don't you love the DMA? They used to have free Tuesdays after 5pm and in the summer they've got live jazz.

We saw this exhibit in December - very cool, no? ;) My favorite was the gold fan with the holes for the peacock feathers.

This is the very exhibit that I was asking you about earlier.

Oh, if I had only known about the half price tickets, we would have met you down there.

Was it a one time promo, or are 1/2 price tickets still available?

I'm glad you got to go and that you both had a good time!

What a fun day!

Those vivid glass sculptures all over the front window - I own one of those! It was given to my husband by a glass artist and it's super funky and not my taste, but I love it on my wall!

So cool! We need more culture in our lives! What does everyone else think of being left behind (in other words, the one who gets to go to school every day?) Meg and Kyle think we do the coolest things while they are at school. You know, run errands, grocery shop. All those great things.

Emily...you are SOOO lucky to live where there are so many wonderfully cultured things to go to. Lucky you!!! I would have loved to have gone to that exhibit. Unhappily Prescott (as you well know) just does not have that much other than the usual Phippin Western Art Musuem and the other things that seem to be only here...dancing on the square, etc..

If I want to see great things I have to pick up a book and read about it, not actually look at it in person. The boys are getting such a broad and wonderful childhood...full of great things!! You get an A+++++++++ for being a great mom!!

wowee-- I love me some modern art, too... and that color room just sings to me!

And.... the Chihuly glass? No wonder you needed to make those lollipops later! Inspiration!
